Clean Tube
YouTube without Shorts. Clean Tube opens YouTube and removes the Shorts shelves, the Shorts tab and Shorts links, so you watch the video you came for and then stop.
Why it exists
Shorts are built to be swiped endlessly. Each swipe is a small, unpredictable reward, which is why one quick look turns into an hour. Clean Tube takes the swipe away and leaves normal, long videos, search and your subscriptions.
What it does
Hides Shorts shelves
Removes the Shorts rows from Home, Subscriptions, Search and suggested videos.
Removes the Shorts tab
The bottom-bar Shorts button is hidden, so there is nothing to tap by habit.
Redirects Shorts links
A shared Shorts link takes you to the YouTube home page instead of a swipe feed.
No account, no tracking
The app has no server, no analytics and no ads. It only runs a small filter on the YouTube page.
How it works
Clean Tube is a small Android app that shows the YouTube mobile site in a built-in browser view. On every page it injects a short script that hides Shorts elements and watches for new ones as the page loads. Navigation to a /shorts/ address is blocked and sent to the home page. Because it filters what is on screen, a change in YouTube's page layout can let some Shorts through until the filter is updated.
